Importance of Proper Fitting Contact Lenses

Contact lenses are not one-size-fits-all. To get correctly fitted for contact lenses, you need to see an eye doctor for a contact lens exam, which includes taking various measurements. Having correctly fitting contacts can help ensure they are comfortable to wear and you see clearly. Improperly fitting contact lenses can cause issues, such as blurry vision and the risk of damaging the health of your eyes.

What to Expect During a Fitting for Contacts

After your contact lens exam, our eye doctor will gather the appropriate information, including eye measurements, to help select the best pair of contacts for you. Our eye doctor will also take the information from your tests to choose a prescription strength to help ensure you see clearly. Once a type of contact lens is determined, our optometrist might fit you with a sample pair to wear at home for about one week. After sometime, you will return to our eye doctor’s office, and our optometrist will determine if these are the right pair of contacts for you.

Do I Need a Comprehensive Eye Exam for Contacts?

An eye exam alone is not needed to wear contacts; however, a contact lens exam is required. The contact lens exam will include a series of tests in order to gather enough information to write you a proper prescription for contact lenses. Our optometrist can give you more information about what a contact lens exam entails if you still have any concerns.
